Katie does a Posh!

Posted Monday, July 09, 2007

Has Katie Holmes been taking insporation from her best pal Victoria Beckham? It appears that way, because the 28 year old has gone for the chop!

The actress looks more sophisticated with her stylish new haircut, which she unveiled last week. And it's very similar to Posh's bob - perhaps we should rename it to the "kob"!

Katie Holmes copies Posh Bob

Posted Monday, July 09, 2007

Katie Holmes showed off a sleek - yet vaguely familiar - new hairdo recently when she stepped out on a dinner date with her husband Tom Cruise.

The Batman Begins star has had her flowing tresses chopped into a neat bob - and the cut is reminiscent of the "pob" hairdo sported by the acress' new best friend Victoria beckham. Posh's hair has got a little shorter and blonder.

Katie Holmes hair is hardly suprising as earlier this year Victoria Beckham styled the actress for a Harper's Bazaar cover shoot.

Posh Bob

Posted Monday, November 20, 2006

To style this Victoria Beckham Posh Bob yourself, put your head upside down and blast with a hairdryer, using a paddle brush to get some height into the style. Then run some serum wax through to the ends for added texture.

Victoria Beckham's Posh Bob is a graduated bob that is shorter at the back than at the front, with choppy layers at the sides and front, using thinning scissors. The colour is her own natural highliughts from living in the Spanish sun.

Her hairdresser, Ben Cooke, explains "It's a classic graduated bob that's been shattered to give it a more modern edge."

Sienna Miller Short Hair

Posted Tuesday, November 14, 2006

To follow Siennas short style, leave your hair to dry naturally or give it a quick blast of a hairdryer for a more casual, messed up look. Without looking in a mirror rub a small amount of wax into your hands and work through to the ends of your hair for even distribution. Finally, gently tease into place with your fingers.

Short Hair Styles

Posted Friday, November 10, 2006

If your hair is short you still have endless options for Short Hair Styles and effects.

Bangs or fringes can be cut short or blunt.

Hair jewelry can be used such as barettes, clips and hairpins and they really help you to not be bored and can help you out of an awkward spot
when hair is growing.

Hair products can be used in your hair to create spikey and messy styles.

For a slick and sculptured flat look, along the lines of the extreme 20s look, using hair product smooth your hands over your hair to make it
behave. Little spit curls on the side can add fine detail.

Colors and dyes are a great way of spicing up short styles.

Red Hair Boost

Posted Thursday, October 12, 2006

Naturally red hair can be coarser and more porous than other hair types, so needs careful handling. Use a cream based serum for a moisture boost.

Choose Longer Layers

Posted Sunday, October 08, 2006

Layers shorter than jaw-length accentuate roundness - Sleek long shapes with longer layers have a slenderising effect.

Cheat with Colour

Posted Tuesday, October 03, 2006

Your colourist can help you cheat your way to looking lighter. A few lightened panels placed each side of your parting, like those Beyonce Knowles wears, has the effect of softening and flattering your features.

Blunt Fringed

Posted Friday, September 29, 2006

Blunt fringes can be difficult to pull off, especially if you have a round face or a square jaw line, as they create the illusion of adding width.

Ditch yours for a softer, sweeping fringe that elongates the face and makes you seem slimmer.

Cautious with Curls

Posted Tuesday, September 26, 2006

Large, structured curls add unwanted volume, which can pile on the pounds in all the wrong places.

Add movement without bulk with flirtatious flicks instead.

Lightened Hair

Posted Sunday, September 24, 2006

Lightening your hair can strip out natural oils, leaving it straw like and dull. To restore shine and manageability, try a colour reviving shampoo, conditioner and intensive conditioning mask.

The three-step system addresses the needs of lightened hair, leaving you with soft, smooth locks.

Hot Summer Bob

Posted Monday, September 04, 2006

A hot look this summer is the bob, which is easily worn and suits lots of face shapes. To maintain the bob, just make sure your hair is in top condition.

Bobbed hair reflects the light more, so shine is essential. Once a week use a hair mask or repair and restructuring treatment.

The New Blonde

Posted Tuesday, August 01, 2006

Mischa Barton, Charlize Theron and Carmen Electra have all recently changed the colour of their hair to a classier shade of darker blonde which is very flattering and achievable on a light brown to light blonde natural hair colour.

Ask your hairdresser for a darker blonde base with lots of gold, copper-gold and a hint of light chestnut woven through in the right areas to get a variation of tone throughout.

Be sure that your hairdresser uses at least five bowls of different tones to colour your hair or it won't come out right.

Professional hair color

Posted Friday, July 28, 2006

If you have dark hair then "semi-permanent" or "tone on tone" colors work best.

If you have blonde hair then a permanent color will be better.

Easy sleek style

Posted Saturday, July 22, 2006

One of the easiest ways to achieve a sleek style that gives natural swing to your hair is to loosely pin up your freshly blow-dried hair and leave it until it cools.

Fringe Tactics

Posted Sunday, July 16, 2006

Rather than simply cutting your fringe try and thin it instead for better results. Cut your hair when it is dry and use a pair of sharp hairdressing scissors. Divide the fringe into sections and snip upwards into your fringe.

Choose the right color for dark hair

Posted Tuesday, July 11, 2006

If you have dark hair and you're planning to lighten it, always choose a color that says "ash" as this will stop the horrible orange tones that can sometimes appear with other colors.

Easy big hair!

Posted Saturday, July 08, 2006

A good trick used in salons for creating big hair, without resorting to backcombing, is to blast your hair upside down with hot air from your blow-dryer and then follow that up with lots of cold air until it is completely cooled down.

Styling Tip

Posted Sunday, July 02, 2006

Before you apply your hair styling product (such as gel, serum etc.) ensure your hair is really towel-dried as it will make your hair absorb the product much better.

Bouncy Hair

Posted Tuesday, June 27, 2006

To make your hair the bounciest it's ever been blow-dry each section of your hair in the opposite direction to that which it normally lies.

Top Beauty Tip

Posted Saturday, June 24, 2006

To get rid of excess grease in your heair when you've just run out of time to clean it sprinkle baby powder into the roots.

Wave Maker

Posted Tuesday, June 20, 2006

Mix a blob of conditioner with a blob of curling gel to hold back the crispy curl effect and then work it through your hair. Next, loosely twist thick strands around your fingers as you blast it with your hair dryer for fabulous waves!

Speed-dry trick for your hair

Posted Wednesday, June 14, 2006

Anything that contains alcohol will make your hair dry much faster so try a surf spray or even perfume!

Shine secret

Posted Monday, June 05, 2006

If shine spray isn't giving you the results or look you're after ask your colourist to use a semi-permanent or vegetable hair dye. This type of hair dye will brighten up and add gloss to the most frazzled hair!

Brilliant blow-dry cheats

Posted Monday, May 29, 2006

Take a round bristle brush and spritz it with your hairspray before you start to blow-dry your hair. It makes the brush easier to control and also gives you a sleeker finish.

You can easily achieve this look by preparing you hair with a volumising mouse designed to add body and shine to your hair.

Next, blow-dry your hair away from your face using a round brush.

Take individual sections of hair on your head and tease the roots with a pintail comb, moving from your crown towards the front of your head.

To finish this styles smooth back the top layer of your hair and fix it to the base of your crown with grips.

A fine mist of hairspray will keep it all in place and complete your sophisticated look.
